Doing anything out-of-doors cannot be done exactly by the calendar, but you can use the following as a guideline.  As this is just a guideline, do not consider this as an inflexible calendar.  Take advantage of the weather when you can, and enjoy your yard.  Enjoy life and your leisure time in your own back yard!

July tips

• Anticipate dry conditions. WATER!
• Continue insect and disease control.
• Watch for sod websorms, cinch bug and billbugs.
• Prune plant material.
• Fertilize, if water conditions permit.
• Watch for powdery mildew and black spots on roses.
• Apply grub control.
• Plant trees and shrubs.
• Cut old perennial blossoms to encourage re-blooming.
• Cut back autumn perennials by 1/3 to prevent having to shake them and to delay blooms.
